The Chia plant, Salvia Hispanica, was used by ancient Mesoamerican cultures in the preparation of food and medicine and in recent years has gained considerable popularity as a ‘Superfood’.
Chia seeds are the richest known botanical source of alpha-linolenic acid (50-60%) and as such, the oil extracted from the seeds can improve the totality of the skin barrier and reduce transdermal water loss. Research has also shown that it has anti inflammatory properties.
It also contains omega 3 & 6 fatty acids and vitamin B.
